Though her parents divorced when she was very young, they both were supportive and present. She knew from a young age she'd become a doctor someday, and worked hard to be one of the youngest doctors in residence at the University Hospitals of Geneva.
BREE STEWART, 26 (ISU Book 4) || Mother: American (Jewish), Father: American (Irish) || Raised by her Jewish aunt and uncle, Bree doesn't relate to her parents, but does see her father often at the Bronx homeless shelters. She took a few engineering classes at the community college while working as a ticket taker in lower Manhattan.
IMANI JAMES, 31 (ISU Book 5) || Mother: Tanzanian; Father: Tanzanian || Despite growing up with a loving Mama and several sisters, Imani learned to look over her shoulder. As a child with vitiligo, the danger of superstitions surrounding albinism in Tanzania constantly loomed over her. She signed up for the Tanzania People's Defence Force as soon as she came of age. Disillusioned by politics and corruption, she left to become a game ranger in the Nyerere National Park Anti-Poaching Task Force.
ROSALIND TURNER, 23 (ISU, Book 6) || Mother: Haitian; Father: Haitian || Rosalinda left Haiti with her father after a cholera outbreak that killed her mother. They walked through a Dominican market when she was eight years old and never looked back. They made their way to Florida thereafter with forged documents, and Rosy never looked back.
TINSLEY ADAMS, 28 (OtM Book 2) || Mother: Canadian (French); Father: Canadian (Indigenous Cree) || Tinsley learned to love food under her grandmother's philosophy of feeding the heart, so when she decided to open her own patisserie in Kingston, Ontario, she was her first backer. She was most proud of her foster kid baking classes and bake sales during the holidays.
MARCELLA BIANCI, 62 (OtM Book 3) || Mother: Tuscan; Father: Sicilian || The Nonna of Renata, Marcella has always been a woman in charge. The matriarch of her family, she had eight sons and a loving husband that had passed before she was abducted. Though she was a full-time mother, she supported her husband's parmegiano reggiano business in Modena. Not wanting to worry her boys, she hadn't told them she was battling lung cancer at the time of her abduction.

From a middle-class family in Jaipur that was beginning to pressure her into finding a husband, Naitee found solace in studying for her college entrance exams and reading. Her dream was to study at CalTech and work for NASA someday.

RAMBIR PATEL, 12 || Mother: Rajasthani; Father: Punjabi || Naitee's younger brother looks up to her and has grown up quickly under the circumstances. His best friend is Pom Pom, and together they make sure all the other kids are accounted for at school and take responsibility for picking up after class. His dream is to be an ISU chief pilot.
